I learned that the sunflower is the national flower of Ukraine. After watching days of disturbing images of the destruction of this proud country I was determined to lift my mood. I bought bunches of sunflowers and put them all over my house. I did numerous paintings and it really helped to lift my mood. I felt that in some small way I was with them in spirit.
